Programme Organization
Full-time students must complete 8 elective courses within 1 year and part-time students must complete 8 elective courses in 2 years. There are no compulsory courses and students can choose from the course list below. The offering of courses is subject to change, being determined by the Department based on students' preferences. Pending approval in 2009, students will be able to select courses from the department's graduate-level day courses as well as those from other departments in the Faculty of Engineering.
 
Study Scheme
  • Coursework Requirements:
    Students are required to take 8 courses and complete a minimum of 24 units for graduation.
    Minimum 6 courses from
    1. the M.Sc. course list and / or,
    2. any CSC or CEG coded 5000-level and 6000-level courses within the department except courses CEG6100, CSC6001-6004, CSC6100, CSC6500, CSC6600, CSC631T, CSC632T, CSC641T, CSC642T, CSC661T-666T, CSC803R, CSC806R, CSC812R.
    Maximum 2 courses from any 7000-level courses of other M.Sc. programme within the Faculty of Engineering.
  • Other Requirements for Graduation:
    1. Students should pass the University IT Proficiency Test before graduation, unless they are exempted. Please refer to Student IT Competence Programme ( http://www.sitc.cuhk.edu.hk/) for details.
    2. The minimum cumulative GPA for graduation is 2.0.
    3. A student may fail in not more than one course and must pass eight courses in order to gain the 24 credit units in total.
      • Students can retake one course within his normative study period (1 year for full-time mode and 2 years for part-time mode) without extra fee.
      • Students who fail to gain 24 credit units during his normative study period should pay $10,500 for each extra course taken.
